About Me
While I enjoy playing guitar and working on guitars, my profession is computer programming and I've been doing that for about 20 years. I live in the Atlanta, GA USA metropolitan area and I've lived here since 1985. I'm married and we have a 10 year old son. We have 5 cats and a blue and gold macaw. I also enjoy fishing, mostly for bass, bream and crappie.
You'll often find me at the Harmony Central Guitar Forums and several other guitar discussion forums. I post under the screen name of 'bgmacaw' on most boards so look for me there.
This site has been around in one form or another since 1999 and has been at jfrankcarr.com since 2002. Prior to that it was on a couple of dot-com-boom era free web host sub-domains. After they went bust I ended up getting my own domain and using Lycos/Tripod as my web host. In 2003 I consolidated my original VBNotebook programming site to this location as well and this, year, 2007, I created a separate sub-domain for it and launched my new VBNotebook for .NET site.
While this site has gone through several incarnations, the goal has been the same, to provide a place for me to display my guitars and music. This year, I'm hoping to expand beyond that to provide additional high quality content, such as guitar lessons, guitar gear reviews, original backing tracks and ringtones, and other music related items in my blog and in articles.

The way to contact me is through email at jfcarr (the 'at' sign) msn -dot- com. I get a lot of spam at this address since I've had it a while and used it a lot so make sure your title and content can't be easily mistaken for spam. If I don't answer right away, feel free to email me again. I get 100+ emails a day at that address so sometimes things get overlooked.

I will never sell, license or disclose your email address or any other personal information to third parties.
I use basic web logs, Google Analytics, and WordPress Stats on this site. I may use other demographic tracking plug-ins from time to time. These statistics may include IP Address, geo-location, browser and OS information, referrer and exit link data. This information is used to provide statistical reports that I can use to improve this site.
Google, a third party advertising vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google uses the DART cookie to enable them to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy page. Please check the privacy policies of my other advertisers on their individual sites since they may be different and they are responsible for their policies.
Photo HotLinking and Usage
I don't have a problem with you hotlinking or downloading photos on my site for use on forums, MySpace pages or the like. If you've hotlinked a picture of mine that's no longer online, let me know and I may be able to restore it. Note that I would prefer that if the location you want to use the picture at gets heavy use that you download the picture and upload it to your own site. Bandwidth costs money, you know.
Also, I would prefer that you not use my pictures to sell a similar item of yours on eBay, Craigs List, or other sites. The reason for this is that it can backfire on you as a legitimate seller when a potential buyer tracks down the original photo in a Google image search and contacts me inquiring about the item. Unfortunately, it is common for scammers to snag photos off websites for use in bogus scam listings, so I have to assume that someone who's doing this isn't on the up and up. If you would like to have an unwatermarked copy of one of my gear photos for use in selling an item please contact me at jfcarr (the 'at' sign) msn -dot- com and I'll see what I can do for you. I do think it's best to take your own pictures of your own item you're selling though.
